Nila Madhab Panda who had earlier dabbled with T.V, short films and documentaries made his transition to feature films with I Am Kalam which won various National and International Awards last year. He is now back with his next feature film,Jalpari :The Desert Mermaid which is scheduled for release on July 20. This film is again focusing on children and features Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi and Harsh Mayar (who won the National Film Award for the best child artist in 2011 for I Am Kalam ) in the lead and also features Parvin Dabas, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Suhasini Mulay, Rahul Singh etc. Jalpari is written by Deepak Venkateshan and has music composed by MIDIval Punditz and Ashish Chauhan. Savita Singh is the DOP and Apurva Asrani has taken care of editing for the film.
The film is entered on the issue of female foeticide but has been treated as an adventure film. Jalpari is produced by Sushil Kumar Agrawal of Ultra Distributors and was screened at Marche Du Cannes ( Film Market at Cannes ) recently. Lets see if Jalpari can go on to repeat the magic of I Am Kalam. For now do check out the trailer of the film-
