After the stupendous success of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa/Ye Maaya Chesave, Gautham Vasudev Menon went on to announce multiple projects. 2011 saw Nadunisi Naaygal ( directed & produced by him ) and Veppam ( produced by him ) from his stable and now in 2012 we see him ready with Ek Deewana Tha,the Hindi version of VTV that will release on 17th February. While working on EDT Gautham had simultaneously started working on a trilingual film ( Tamil, Telugu & Hindi versions ). The Tamil version called Neethane En Ponvasantham stars Jiiva and Samantha in the lead. Samantha in fact is playing the female lead in all the 3 versions. The Telugu version called Yeto Vellipoindhi Manasu has Nani in place of Jiiva and the Hindi version called Assi Nabbey Poore Sau has Aditya Roy Kapoor doing the male lead.
Neethane En Ponvasantham is a tribute to the song of the same name from the 1982 romantic musical, Ninaivellam Nithya ( similarly Yeto Vellipoindhi Manasu is a tribute to the song from Ninne Pelladutha ). Gautham has primarily been working with A.R.Rahman and Harris Jayaraj in his films but this is the first time that the veteran Ilaiyaraja will be scoring the music for Gautham’s film.
